Michal Luria

Michal Luria, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow at the Center for Democracy & Technology since November 2021. Previously, Michal served as a Qualitative and Quantitative Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2016 to December 2021, where the focus was on human-robot interaction and service robots, resulting in numerous academic publications and awards. Additional experience includes roles as a UX Researcher at Facebook, where design insights were leveraged for Instagram, and as a Design Researcher at iRobot, influencing future home concepts with robots. Michal also held positions at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, leading design and research on innovative robots, Hippotec Ltd. as Head of Product, and StyleRiver as Project Manager, overseeing significant branding and product initiatives. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and an MS in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, along with a BA in Communication and Media Studies from Reichman University.
