Syeda Tasnim

Syeda Tasnim is a staff attorney at the Center for Family Representation. Syeda previously served as deputy director of grants at the Urban Justice Center from January 2016 to June 2021. At the Urban Justice Center, Tasnim managed a multimillion dollar budget sourced from multiple government grants. Syeda was responsible for the implementation of programs across domestic violence, housing, immigration and other program areas, as well as monthly and quarterly program status reports to grant sources. Tasnim also oversaw procurement and registration of contracts for all UJC programs, and compliance audits for UJC programs (desk audits, independent 3rd-party audits, and site visits).

Syeda Tasnim earned their J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law, where they studied immigration, law, and security, as well as constitutional law. Syeda also holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College, where they studied sociology and anthropology, and religion.

Their manager is Ari Chiarella, Co-Director of Queens Family Defense Practice & Social Work Supervisor. They work with Sakeena Trice - Staff Attorney, Katherine Kuenzle - Family Advocate, and Shayne Larkin - Family Advocate.
