Eugene Kipniss

Eugene Kipniss has a diverse range of work experience spanning multiple industries. From 2009 to 2013, they worked as a Guide at Eastern Mountain Sports. In 2012, they also served as a Constituent Services Intern at the Office of US Senator Charles Schumer, where they assisted with casework and research on public policy concerns.

In 2012 and 2013, Kipniss held multiple roles at Friends of the Arava Institute, including Research Associate, Development Intern, and Student Recruitment and Communications Assistant. Eugene'sresponsibilities included donor research, database management, and establishing partnerships with higher education institutions for student recruitment.

From 2012 to 2013, Kipniss worked as a Business Assistant at Tracimoc, a small business focused on upcycling comic books into artwork. Eugene'sduties included managing social media and marketing the brand.

Kipniss joined Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2013 as an Assistant Advancement Officer and Program Manager. During their tenure, they managed a team of student ambassadors, increased program revenue, and developed a streamlined training process.

In 2014, Kipniss returned to Friends of the Arava Institute as a Research Associate. Eugene provided research support, maintained the donor database, and trained new staff and interns.

Kipniss joined the Center for Internet Security in 2016 and held various roles until 2022. As an MS-ISAC Program Specialist, they focused on outreach and visibility for cybersecurity resources for state and local governments. In 2017, they became a Senior MS-ISAC Program Specialist, where they co-chaired the MS-ISAC Education and Awareness Working Group and presented on various cybersecurity topics. In 2019, they became an MS-ISAC Program Manager, overseeing cybersecurity services for government entities.

Kipniss's most recent position is as Director of Strategic Enablement for the Center for Internet Security, a role they assumed in 2022. Eugene also served as the MS-ISAC Director of Partnerships and Stakeholder Maturity, where they managed the Nationwide Cybersecurity Review and measured cybersecurity maturity against the NIST CSF for government entities.

Eugene Kipniss obtained their B.A. degree in International Relations from the University of Rochester, where they attended from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Albany High School between 2004 and 2008. In addition to their academic qualifications, Kipniss has acquired several certifications related to information security from GIAC Certifications. Eugene obtained the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) in June 2017, the GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC) certification in January 2017, and the GIAC Information Security Fundamentals certification in July 2016.
