Yvette Chen has a diverse work experience in the field of housing policy and planning. Starting in 2013, Yvette worked as a Graphic Design and Media Intern at the Boston Cyclists Union. In 2014, they became a Photography Instructor at the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts. Yvette then had an internship at the Fair Share Housing Center, where they analyzed GIS methodology and assisted in calculating affordable housing obligations.
From 2015 to 2017, Yvette worked as a Housing Policy Intern at The Century Foundation, where they conducted research and wrote blog posts on fair housing and housing policy. Yvette also served as a Research Assistant, Tax Counselor, and Staff Photographer at Oberlin College from 2012 to 2016.
In 2019, Yvette was a Summer Fellow at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society. Yvette then worked as a Policy and Planning Analyst at the Fair Share Housing Center from 2016 to 2022. In 2022, Yvette joined HousingPlus as a Data and Evaluation Manager, and later that year transitioned to the role of Program Manager at the Center for NYC Neighborhoods.
Yvette Chen, AICP, holds a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, which they pursued from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they attended Oberlin College from 2012 to 2016, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a focus on Sociology and Economics. In addition to their educational background, Yvette also obtained a certification as a Certified Planner (AICP) from the American Planning Association in October 2022.
