Director, Strategic Projects And Initiatives at Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

Monica Sharma is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in public policy and anti-poverty initiatives. Currently serving as the Director of Strategic Projects and Initiatives at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities since May 2019, Sharma has a strong background in supporting state-based organizations through various leadership roles, including Deputy Director and Project Director for the Safety Net Initiative. Prior to this, Sharma worked at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where responsibilities included managing the Pew-MacArthur Results First Initiative focused on evidence-based policy-making. Additional positions include Social Policy Statistician at the Texas Legislative Council, Research Associate at the Center for Public Policy Priorities, and roles at the New America Foundation and The Financial Clinic. Monica Sharma holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs with a focus on Social and Economic Policy from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
