Center on Rural Innovation
Diego Rubio is a seasoned consultant specializing in tech-based economic development and entrepreneurship, currently leading capacity-building initiatives for rural communities at the Center on Rural Innovation since September 2023. As a Community Manager and Adjunct Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, Rubio teaches entrepreneurship courses, co-leading seminars that explore innovative thinking and resilience. With extensive experience as a Senior Program Manager for Blackstone Launchpad and Texas Launchpad Network, Rubio has mentored numerous students and startup teams while managing substantial grant funding to support budding entrepreneurs. Previous roles include Business Incubator Manager for Spark Lab Del Rio, where Rubio established the city's first incubator program and successfully secured substantial grants. In business ownership roles at Acutalent and Crosby's Chicken, Rubio demonstrated strong leadership and operational management skills. Educational background includes a degree from Texas A&M University.
