Gennady Pekhimenko

Gennady Pekhimenko is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of CentML since July 2022. Gennady is also an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, specializing in systems, computer architecture, and machine learning. Gennady has been with the University since July 2017, initially serving as an Assistant Professor before being promoted. In addition, Gennady is a Faculty Member at the Vector Institute since September 2019 and is a Research Co-Chair at MLCommons since April 2020. Gennady is a Founding Member of MLPerf since March 2018. Prior to their current roles, they worked as a Researcher at Microsoft from July 2016 to August 2017, and as a CS PhD Student / Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University from September 2010 to August 2016. Gennady also served as a Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University from September 2011 to May 2012. Gennady has previous experience as a Research Consultant at Microsoft, a Graduate Research Intern at NVIDIA Architecture Research Group, and as a QInF Winner and Fellow at Qualcomm.

Gennady Pekhimenko holds a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, which they obtained from 2010 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned an MSc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto from 2006 to 2008. Gennady also completed a Specialist/BSc. degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) from 1999 to 2004. Additionally, they pursued a part-time Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Taurida 'V. I. Vernadskiy' National University, Simferopol from 2001 to 2006. Gennady completed their high school education at Simferopol School #7 from 1989 to 1999.
