Hylan T. Hubbard, III (“Hank”) is a Lynchburg native who is a 1965 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and a 1969 graduate of Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME.
Hank retired as a corporate executive at Aetna Insurance Company after 30 years and formed New America Insurance Company in Tarpon Springs, Fl, which provided insurance products to underserved customers, agents, and brokers.
Hank retired to Forest, VA in 2007 and is very active as a community volunteer. He serves on the Amazement Square Children’s Museum Board, the Randolph College Board as its Chair, the African American Advisory Panel of Poplar Forest, the Lynchburg Beacon of Hope Board, Partners in Education Advisory Board, Early Childhood Education and Childcare Task Force, the STEP with Links Board, and the Pierce Street Gateway Advisory Board. Mr. Hubbard’s main passion is helping to close the learning/reading gaps with local children. He has been a Centra Board member since 2014.
