Dr. Thomas Nygaard attended undergraduate school and Medical School at Vanderbilt University. He completed his Internship and Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Internal Medicine. His Cardiology Fellowship was carried out at the University of Virginia where he also served on the faculty. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Nygaard came to Lynchburg in 1986 and is now retired.
