Sohaib Umar

Sohaib Umar, CFA, has a distinguished career in Islamic finance and investment management, currently serving as Advisor for Islamic Finance Development at the Central Bank of Bahrain since March 2014. In this role, Sohaib proposes initiatives to enhance Bahrain's standing as a global Islamic finance hub and manages the Waqf Fund. Previously, Sohaib held the position of Executive Manager at Ernst & Young from 2009 to 2014, focusing on Shari'a-compliant financial services. As CEO of The Guidance Institute from 2008 to 2009, Sohaib established a Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic Finance. Earlier, Sohaib led TMT Ventures as CEO, managing venture capital investments, and worked at CLSA Emerging Markets and AKD Securities in research and strategy roles. Sohaib holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration.
