Dr. Alicia D. Dervin

Dr. Alicia D. Dervin is the Founder and Executive Director of Read for No Reason, a literacy campaign dedicated to enhancing reading skills among children in North and South Carolina since January 2018. In addition to this role, Dr. Dervin serves as an English Instructor at Central Piedmont Community College and as Adjunct Faculty at Winthrop University. With a background in broadcasting as a former Broadcast Specialist for Hearst Television, Dr. Dervin also engages in freelance writing across various online and print publications. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Master’s degree in Creative/Professional Writing from Converse University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/Journalism from Winthrop University.
