Fran Swain

Fran Swain serves as the Chief Financial Officer at CVA.

Fran was born and raised in Kingsley, Iowa. His family owned a wrecker manufacturing company and other auto-related businesses. Growing up, Fran spent time working in these businesses and on farms in the area.

After high school, Fran attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD, earning an accounting degree. He later attended Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, to achieve his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Information Technology. In addition, he completed a master’s degree in Business Administration from South Dakota State University while he worked full-time on a farming and agribusiness operation in Iowa.

Following these experiences, he landed at POET Research in Sioux Falls, SD. Fran led the business analytics for new products and technologies within the corn and cellulosic ethanol industry. As the build-out of the ethanol industry subsided, Fran migrated towards an opportunity with CHS. He led the mergers and acquisitions projects and provided strategic and business consultation for CHS affiliates in SD and Western MN.

Fran and his wife Chris reside in Seward, NE. They have two adult children, Derek and Renae (Matthew). Fran and Chris are also blessed with a grandson, Ezra.
