Ishrat Husain has a diverse work experience spanning over many years. Starting in 2007, they worked as a Trainee Doctor at an NHS Trust until 2015. In 2015, they worked as a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and also as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust until 2017. During this time, they also served as a Visiting Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience from 2015 to 2022. From 2016 to 2017, they worked as a Director at Eos Clinic. In 2018, they joined the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor, eventually rising to the position of Associate Professor in 2022. In the same year, they also took on multiple roles at CAMH, including Head of the Clinical Trials Unit, Lead of the Mood Disorders Service, Canada Research Chair in Treatment Innovation in Mood Disorders, and Clinician Scientist. Ishrat Husain completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from St George's, University of London from 2002 to 2007. From 2009 to 2012, Ishrat pursued a Psychiatry Residency Program at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and obtained the MRCPsych certification. Ishrat then went on to obtain a Doctorate of Medicine Research (M.D. Res.) degree in Psychological Medicine from King's College London, completing their studies from 2015 to 2018. Ishrat also holds additional certification as an MRCPsych from The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
