Sandra Lage is an experienced academic and researcher in marine biology and ecology, currently serving as an Invited Assistant Professor at Universidade do Algarve since December 2022, focusing on Marine Botany and related disciplines. Sandra holds a postdoctoral position at the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR), where research centers on emergent toxins along the Portuguese coast. Previous postdoctoral roles were undertaken at Stockholms universitet, investigating the impact of food web interactions on the cyanobacterium Nodularia spumigena, and at SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, contributing to projects aimed at sustainable algae production. Additional research experience includes visiting roles at various institutions and a foundational role as a research assistant in the assessment of bioavailability of phosphorus. Sandra earned a PhD in Plant Physiology from Stockholm University, as well as MSc and BSc degrees in Marine Ecology and Environmental Biology from the University of Lisbon.
