General Counsel at Centrifuge

Eli Cohen has extensive work experience in the legal field, with a focus on regulatory compliance and international negotiations. Eli is currently serving as the General Counsel at Centrifuge since January 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as the Deputy General Counsel at Bullish from August 2019 to November 2021. Eli was also the Executive Director and Head of Legal - Asia at CME Group from March 2016 to July 2019.

Before joining CME Group, Cohen was the Senior Vice President and Head of Legal (Regulation) at SGX from August 2013 to February 2016. Eli held the position of General Counsel - Asia at Euroclear Bank Hong Kong Branch from January 2008 to July 2013, and was a Director and Assistant General Counsel from August 2001 to December 2007.

Cohen began their career as an Associate at Baker McKenzie, where they worked from September 1994 to June 2001. During this time, they handled various legal matters, including analyzing insolvency laws, drafting and negotiating documentation, and conducting compliance assessments.

Prior to their role at Baker McKenzie, Cohen served as a Special Assistant to the Ambassador at the United States Arms Control and Disarmament Agency from September 1990 to May 1992. Eli was involved in negotiating the implementation and compliance for the 1972 ABM Treaty and led a working group on treaty interpretation.

Cohen's earlier experience includes a role as a Presidential Management Intern at the United States Department of Defense from September 1988 to September 1990. Overall, they have a strong background in legal and policy-related positions, spanning both the public and private sectors.

Eli Cohen has a strong educational background with degrees from prestigious universities. Eli began their educational journey in 1982 at the University of Michigan, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History in 1986. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and Government Administration from 1986 to 1988. Eli Cohen's academic pursuits continued at Georgetown University, where they completed their Juris Doctor degree in Law from 1991 to 1994.
