Matt Godfrey has oversight of all NPL’s West Region operations.
Throughout his career, Matt has accrued nearly 43 years of energy infrastructure experience—all with NPL. Matt started out as a fitter and truck driver in NPL’s home state of Minnesota in 1978 and was among the first crews to expand the company to Arizona. Once NPL secured its first blanket gas contract there in 1983, Matt became a General Foreman in Yuma. A year later, he returned to Minnesota to lead crews on a big replacement project and was promoted to Superintendent. By 1994, Matt had become the General Superintendent for all of Minnesota. Returning to Arizona in 1996, Matt advanced in leadership roles to Area Manager in 2006 and then Regional Manager in 2013. He was promoted to his current position in 2021.
Matt has been instrumental in growing NPL in the Southwest, especially NPL’s relationship with Southwest Gas. He is an active participant in a number of industry associations, including the Arizona Utility Contractors Association, American Gas Association, Western Regional Gas Association, and the Western Energy Institute.
