Hjalti Nielsen

Hjalti Nielsen is an Environmental Sustainability Specialist at Century Aluminum since June 2024, with a strong background in chemical engineering. Previous experience includes a Chemical Engineering Intern role at Carbfix, where investigative research on CO2 streams and development of a cost simulation tool occurred. As a Process Associate at Össur, Hjalti collaborated with an engineering team to improve processes, implemented a new documentation system, and created multilingual product pamphlets. Hjalti also served as an Associate at Carbfix, contributing to a novel CO2 capture and storage method while facilitating contract translations. Academic achievements include a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in the same field from Háskóli Íslands, complemented by a Matriculation Exam in Business from the Commercial College of Iceland.
