Nicolás van Drunen is an experienced architectural engineer currently working at architectenbureau cepezed since August 2022. Previously, Nicolás served as an architect at nvdarq from February 2016 to August 2022, focusing on project definition and design for individual clients, including homes and furniture. Nicolás has held multiple technical consultant roles, including at the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR) for the Active Nodes project and with Fundación Somos Ecuador, where a training program in bamboo construction was developed for rural communities. Earlier roles included architectural designer at CUATRO PUNTO DOS arquitectura sostenible con bambu, technical consultant for the Ministry of Education in Ecuador, and trip leader for the Regeneration Field Institute. Nicolás co-authored Ecuador’s first bamboo building code while at INBAR in 2016 and holds a Master of Science in Architecture as well as a Bachelor's degree from Delft University of Technology.
