Maarten Smit

Maarten Smit has a diverse and extensive work experience in the Life Science industry. Maarten started their career as a Scientist at Pamgene International BV, where they developed instrumentation for molecular biological testing. Maarten then worked at bioMérieux as an Associate Staff Scientist, leading a team and working on automation of molecular diagnostic assays. Maarten also served as a Senior Scientist, developing instrumentation for automated molecular diagnostic testing.

Later on, Maarten joined Yacht as a Senior Interim Professional and eventually became the Business Unit Manager for Physics and Life Science, responsible for managing resources. Maarten also worked as a Business Development Life Science professional at Yacht Technology.

In 2012, Maarten took on the role of Chief Technology Officer at FABPulous BV Maastricht, where they successfully concluded a series B financing round. Maarten then carried out volunteer work at CAMTech in Uganda, advising on medical device development and providing workshops and trainings.

From 2014 to 2016, Maarten worked at Philips Handheld Diagnostics as an Integral Project Manager and later as the Manager of Medical and Clinical Affairs. In these roles, they managed various clinical studies, engaged with Key Opinion Leaders, and coordinated scientific communication.

Maarten's next position was at Bright Society, where they served as a Program Manager in Life Science. In this role, they managed projects in project management and clinical trial management. Maarten also provided internal trainings on medical device development and clinical trial management.

Most recently, Maarten joined Charles River Laboratories as a Section Head for Analytical and Physical chemistry. Currently, they hold the position of Laboratory Manager at Cerba Research.

Maarten Smit obtained their MSc degree in Chemical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology. Maarten attended the university from 1992 to 1997. Prior to that, they completed their education at Gymnasium Bernrode, although specific dates and degrees are not provided.
