Gaetan Martens

Gaetan Martens is a Senior Manager of Research Engineering at Cerence Inc. since October 2019, specializing in AI components for human-machine interaction in the automotive sector. Prior to this role, Gaetan served as Research Engineer Manager at Nuance Communications, leading international teams to enhance automated speech and natural language understanding (NLU) technologies, contributing to the development of the MBUX system for Mercedes-Benz. Gaetan's experience includes expertise in NLP and NLU, with previous positions at TomTom and Ghent University, focusing on big data analysis, concept development, and texture analysis. Additionally, Gaetan holds a PhD in Computer Science Engineering and a Master’s in Computer Science from Ghent University. Early career highlights include innovative contributions as a VJ at major techno festivals in Belgium.
