Denton Munns

Quality Director at Ceres Nanosciences

Denton Munns has significant experience in the field of quality management and research within the biotechnology and molecular diagnostics industries. Denton began their career in 2005 as a Research Associate at Myriad Genetics, where they led projects to introduce new robotic platforms and protocols for high-throughput DNA extraction and sequencing. During their time at Myriad Genetics, Denton improved efficiency, wrote standard operating procedures, and conducted troubleshooting to maintain production levels.

In 2009, Denton joined Taueret Labs as a Research Associate, where they developed mRNA purification and gene expression assays for identifying renal inflammation caused by drugs. Denton also conducted genome-wide association studies and performed in-depth gene resequencing.

From 2010 to 2017, Denton worked at Great Basin Scientific in various roles. As an Associate Scientist, they created and optimized molecular diagnostic assays for detecting microbes in blood, nares, and stool. Denton notably developed an FDA-approved isothermal amplification assay for Cdiff detection. Later, as a Process Development Scientist, Denton focused on process improvement, troubleshooting, and tech transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing. Denton also managed a reagent manufacturing team within ISO 13485 standards.

Since 2017, Denton has been working at Ceres Nanosciences, Inc. as the Quality Director. Denton leads a team responsible for measuring and managing quality across various business operations. Denton successfully built and managed the Quality Management System, leading to ISO 9001:2015 certification. Prior to this role, they were the Quality Manager, overseeing Quality Control methods, managing the QMS, and consulting on Nanotrap applications.

Overall, Denton Munns has demonstrated expertise in quality management, process development, and molecular diagnostics research throughout their career.

Denton Munns holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Pharmaceutical Science and Pharmacogenomics from the University of California, San Francisco. This educational achievement took place between 2007 and 2009. Prior to that, Munns completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Zoology/Animal Biology at Southern Utah University from 2001 to 2004.
