Per Hjalmarsson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Per currently works at Ceres as the Chief Scientist, where they assumed the position in January 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Senior Principal Scientist and Senior Principal Engineer/Test Department Manager at Ceres from 2017 to 2022. Per also served as a Principal Engineer at Ceres from 2015 to 2017. Before joining Ceres, Per worked at Topsoe Fuel Cell A/S as a Research Engineer from 2013 to 2014, where they played a significant role in technical expertise and optimizing test methodologies. Per also gained experience as a Scientist and Work Group Leader at the Technical University of Denmark from 2010 to 2013, focusing on project management, advanced testing, and fuel cell development. Additionally, Per worked as a Postdoc at Risø National Laboratory from 2008 to 2010, managing the EU-project SOFC600 and conducting advanced electrochemical testing. Per also completed their Ph.D. at Risø National Laboratory, specializing in solid-state electrochemistry from 2005 to 2008. Prior to their career in the scientific field, Per worked as a Correctional Officer at Kriminalvården from 1999 to 2005. Per also gained experience at ABB as part of their Master Thesis in 2005, where they developed a new functional nano-composite material. Lastly, Per worked as a Project Member at Tetra Pak in 2002.
Per Hjalmarsson pursued their education in the field of Electrochemistry, Materials Science, and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. Per obtained a PhD degree from DTU - Technical University of Denmark, where they studied from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed their MSc. Eng. degree in Chemical Engineering and Materials Physics from The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, a period ranging from 1999 to 2004. During their studies, they also had the opportunity to study as an exchange student at UNSW for one year in 2003, focusing on Mathematics and Materials Science.
