Melissa Vance

Melissa Vance has had a long and varied career in accounting. Melissa began their career in 1994 as an Accountant at Lone Star Paint. In 1995, they worked as an Accountant at Management & Training Corporation, where they were responsible for invoicing the State of Texas, reviewing accounts payable vouchers, and preparing bank reconciliations. In 1997, they worked as an Accountant at The Arrington Corporation, where they prepared purchase orders, processed accounts payable, and reconciled bank statements. From 1999 to 2001, they worked as a Financial Coordinator at Tyler Catholic School System, where they prepared the budget and financial statements, processed payroll, and prepared payroll tax reports. From 2001 to 2005, they worked as a Staff Accountant at Gearheart & Gearheart, CPAs, where they prepared tax returns and participated in audits, reviews, and compilations. From 2005 to 2006, they worked as a Senior Staff Accountant at Sanford, Baumeister & Frazier, LLP (now the Fort Worth office of Clifton Larson Allen), where they prepared federal and state tax returns and assisted the tax manager during tax season. Finally, from 2006 to 2022, they worked as a Lead Editor, Senior Technical Editor, and Technical Editor at Thomson Reuters, where they reviewed and updated course materials, ensured course compliance with state and national CPE requirements, and maintained quality products. In 2022, they began working as a CPA and Lead Editor at CeriFi.

Melissa Vance received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1994, after attending Tyler Junior College from 1990 to 1992. Melissa also holds a Certified Public Accountant certification from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
