Bill Watkins

Bill Watkins has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Bill began their career in 1979 as a Wideband Technician in the U.S. Air Force, where they maintained and supported telecommunications equipment. After leaving the military, they worked as a Communications Journeyman, installing and maintaining various communications equipment in New Mexico. Bill then served as a Field Coordinator, managing personnel and resources for the installation and maintenance of communications equipment in New Mexico and parts of Arizona. In 2011, they joined Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) as a NERC-CIP Coordinator for New Mexico Operations, where they coordinated and facilitated compliance activities and implementation projects. In 2016, they took on the role of NERC-CIP Coordinator and Manager, overseeing compliance activities and establishing long-term compliance plans for NM Operations. Most recently, they joined Certrec in 2022 as a Senior CIP Analyst in the Office of NERC Compliance.

Bill Watkins attended Northern Virginia Community College from 1989 to 1995, where they completed part of their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. From 1981 to 1984, they studied Electronics Technology at the University of Maryland University College, earning an Associate of Science degree. Prior to their college education, they attended Big Creek High School from 1973 to 1977, focusing on College Prep. Additionally, Bill received training in Computer Science, although specific dates and details regarding this training are not provided.
