Valerie Schmitz has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Valerie began their career as a Volunteer at Teach Me Peace in 2008, where they contributed until 2019. In 2010, they served as the Director at KM Global Charter School for Global Leadership and Innovation until 2013. At the same time, Valerie also worked as an Adjunct Instructor in Educational Leadership at National Louis University from 2007 to 2017. Valerie then joined Purdue University in 2013 as a Faculty member, specializing in M.Ed and Ph.D programs, until present. Additionally, Valerie has worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Pepperdine University since 2013 and as a Contributing Faculty member at Walden University from 2011 to 2017. In 2013, they briefly served as a School Administration Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Valerie also has experience as a Facilitator at University for Peace and as an Instructional Design and Effectiveness Project Coordinator at CESA 6. In 2018, they started working at CESA 2 as a Senior Director, and in 2019, they took on the role of Senior Director, Continuous Improvement, and Implementation Center of Excellence. Valerie's vast experience showcases their expertise in education, curriculum development, instructional design, and leadership.

Valerie Schmitz has an extensive education history. Valerie obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Education from Edgewood College, specializing in Middle Level Education, Elementary Education, and Science. Valerie also earned a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree from Lesley University, focusing on Technology in Education.

Valerie further pursued their education by completing a Ph.D. program in Education, with a specialization in Instructional Design for Online Learning, at Capella University. Valerie then went on to earn a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree in Educational Leadership, specializing in the Emergence of Wisconsin Charter School Pedagogies, from National Louis University.

In addition to their academic degrees, Valerie has obtained various certifications. Valerie completed the U Lab Leading Change program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the 15.671.0x: u.lab: Leading Change in Times of Disruption program at edX, and the Data Wise: A Collaborative Process to Improve Learning & Teaching program at Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Valerie also acquired certifications in Introduction to CyberSecurity from the University of Washington and Alternative Education, Superintendent of Schools, Director of Curriculum, Principal, Pupil Services Director, Elementary Middle Education, and Science Education from the State of Wisconsin.

Valerie has demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and has acquired additional certifications, including Building Your Cybersecurity Toolkit from the University of Washington, CYB002x: The CISO's View (Cybersecurity series) from the University of Washington, and Essentials of Cybersecurity from edX.
