Landee Thorn joined the iCEV team as a CTE Curriculum Consultant for New Mexico in 2019 and has since taken on the role of Higher Education and Correctional Education Consultant. Thorn is originally from Vernon, TX, but now calls Lubbock, TX home. A die-hard Red Raider, Thorn earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in agricultural communications from Texas Tech University. One of Thorn’s fondest memories of her college years was during her master’s degree program when she traveled to Australia and conducted a needs assessment for implementing agricultural communications curriculum in colleges across the country.
Thorn’s passion for agriculture and videography is what led her to work with iCEV’s founder Dr. Gordon Davis, on a project for the Texas Tech Meat Science program. These opportunities and experiences helped cultivate Thorn’s interest in iCEV’s mission for Career and Technical Education and what helped lead her to the company after graduating college.
Thorn will jokingly say that she had no idea what she was doing when she started in 2019, but quickly found excitement in working with educators in first, New Mexico, and then across the United States. “She didn’t come from an educational background, but she quickly learned just how passionate and talented educators are, which made her more excited to share resources that could be a tremendous help in their classrooms!” Thorn said the most rewarding part of her job is hearing success stories about individuals who have used iCEV’s resources to prepare for a new job, new position or even a new beginning.
