Lonnie C. Johnson grew up in Ludlow, MS on a cotton and cattle farm where his fascination for agriculture began. He has been involved in FFA since he was 13 years old and says his agriculture teacher, P.E. Jones at Pisgah High School was one of the biggest influences in his life.
Johnson graduated from Mississippi State University in 1969 with a B.S. in agriculture education and received a master’s in political science and history from MSU in 1992. In 1994, Johnson became certified as a Gifted Specialist from the University of North Carolina. Throughout his career, Lonnie has served 25 years as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, served eight years in the Mississippi Legislature, was a 1983 candidate for Governor and was an agriculture science teacher and FFA advisor for 17 years.
As an iCEV Territory Manager, Johnson enjoys traveling throughout Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee to show CTE teachers and directors a new way of teaching using iCEV products. “I enjoy working with the customer support group at the home office to give the customers the best service possible,” says Johnson.
His experience as an educator includes teaching biotechnology, animal science and plant science courses, among others. "I loved seeing students develop leadership skills in FFA and becoming effective leaders at the local, state, and national levels."
Johnson had the number one FFA chapter in the nation for the Hometown Scholarship Program at T.C. Roberson FFA in 2006 and the number one chapter in North Carolina three years in a row. Additionally, he has received three Honorary State FFA Degrees, had his Roberson FFA Chapter featured on the front cover of the New Horizon Magazine in 2004, was selected as one of the three “Outstanding Young Men of Mississippi” by the Mississippi Jaycees and received Who’s Who in American Politics as well as Who’s Who in American Education. Recently, Johnson received the 2016 and 2021 Eddie Puckett Salesperson of the Year Award and the 2017 Aubrey N. Davis Family Memorial Award, both from iCEV.
