John Gross is a Director in the Technology Practice. He has over thirty years of senior financial management experience at both large and small companies, including broad CFO experience in both public and private companies across multiple industries. His industry experience includes: financial technology; software; consumer products; new media; and food and beverage. Having been the first CFO on multiple occasions, he has significant experience in implementing best practices in planning, control, and systems. He has substantial experience in both pre and post IPO’s, revenue recognition and SAAS, as well as significant M&A experience on both the buy and sell sides.
John also has significant experience in: strategic and tactical planning; IPO readiness and SOX; SEC reporting; M&A and due diligence; budgeting and forecasting models; capital raising; and working with Private Equity. He has substantial experience working with founders.
John spent ten years at PepsiCo in planning and control positions, following three years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He was CFO at Cadbury Schweppes US confectionary division where he led its divestiture to Hershey Foods. He was Controller at Reader’s Digest and was the first CFO at an early stage .com which raised ninety million dollars and had just become public through a reverse merger. While it tripled in size, he was the first CFO at FactSet Research Systems leading up to their successful IPO, and later served in a Corporate Development capacity. FactSet is a leading provider of integrated global financial information and analytical applications for the investment community. John also helped facilitate the turnaround of MajesCo Entertainment, a NASDQ-listed digital entertainment company, and most recently was the first CFO at TradingScreen, a SAAS-based financial technology provider that provides software trading solutions for institutional traders.
John has an MBA from New York University and is a CPA.
