John Kovacs supports the firm’s Real Estate and Construction, business services and manufacturing practice areas. John has over twenty-five years of financial and operational experience, both in the public and private sector. He has a mix of large and midsized corporate experience, where he led accounting functions to improve operational efficiencies and internal controls, negotiated numerous financings, stemmed losses and improved profitability, identified key business indicators, led cross-functional teams and headed acquisition and divestiture engagements. He has the ability to view the big picture and be hands-on as required.
John started his career with Price Waterhouse where he audited Fortune 500 companies involved in such diverse industries as government contracting, international engineering and construction management and manufacturing and distribution. In corporate, John held senior-level positions with titles that included being CFO, SVP and General Manager, VP of Business Development and International Controller. Industries included real estate, development and property management, engineering and other professional services, environmental, and manufacturing. He has extensive experience with restructuring and turnarounds, acquisitions and divestitures, start-up of engineering and construction businesses. His experience also included the successful turnaround of a $50 million manufacturing business from 5 years of losses to a $2 million profit.
John has a BA in Accounting (with a minor in Economics) from the University of Bridgeport. John received his CPA (currently inactive) from the State of Connecticut.
