Sally Plunkett

Sally Plunkett is a psychologist who currently works at Challenge Community Services. Prior to their current position, they worked as a school counselor at CatholicCare Sydney from April 2016 to February 2018. In this role, they worked with primary and high school aged students between the ages of 6 and 18, using psychometric assessments and semi-structured interviews to identify psychological distress that was impacting the students' ability to learn.

Sally has experience working with clients who present with a variety of diagnoses and issues, including but not limited to: generalized or social anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, difficulties facing refugee students, school refusal, self-harm and suicidality, bullying, PTSD, grief and loss. Sally has delivered interventions such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), cognitive restructuring, assertiveness skills building, graded exposure step-ladders, trauma-focused CBT, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness skills, group intervention, and communication/negotiation with other agencies (psychological letters, phone calls).

Sally Plunkett has a diploma in professional psychology, a certificate in mental health, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Newcastle. Sally also has high school education from Green Point Christian College. In addition, Sally has various certifications from Royal Rehab College, Legal Aid NSW, Yfoundations, Mental Health Coordinating Council, ACT Mindfully, Lizard Learning Center Chatswood, and Mental Health First Aid Australia. Finally, they have a certification in first aid from Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
