Courtney Shane

Founder & CEO at Challenger Brand Group

Courtney Shane has over 10 years of work experience in various roles and industries. Courtney is currently a Member of the Georgetown Angel Investor Network. In 2023, they also founded and became the CEO of Challenger Brand Group. Prior to this, they worked as a Strategic Advisor for the beverage startup brand bonbuz and as a Fractional CMO for the houseplant startup Twig Plants.

Courtney has also held several managerial positions at Nestlé, where they successfully turned around the Nestle Toll House Morsels business and developed an innovation strategy for Ready-to-Drink Flavored Milks. Courtney also managed the Nesquik Ready-to-Drink business and launched new branded milks under the Snickers and Twix names.

Before their time at Nestlé, Courtney worked at SC Johnson as a General/Brand Manager, where they managed the Scrubbing Bubbles and Windex portfolios, achieving sales and share growth. Courtney also developed an e-commerce strategy for Scrubbing Bubbles and a pricing strategy for Windex.

Courtney began their career as an MBA Brand Management Intern at Wrigley, where they developed marketing strategies and secured funding for shopper marketing programs. Courtney also worked as a Principal Consultant at PA Consulting Group, leading teams and managing client relationships for US Navy programs.

In 2009, Courtney worked as a Math Tutor at Georgetown University and as a Software and Development Engineering Intern at Xerox.

Courtney Shane completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at Georgetown University from 2006 to 2010. Later, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Marketing and Finance at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management from 2015 to 2017.
