Champaign Unit 4 Schools
Kaila Simpson has extensive experience in education and engineering. Currently serving as a Long Term Substitute Teacher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since March 2020 and as a Substitute Teacher for Champaign Unit 4 Schools since August 2019, Kaila teaches students from Pre-K to 12th grade. Prior to these roles, experience includes serving as an Account Director at Legion, Inc., focusing on community outreach, marketing, and sales, as well as a Project Engineer at JMA Civil, Inc., where responsibilities included drafting construction projects and bidding documents. An educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an Associate's Degree in General Studies from Parkland College. Earlier roles encompass positions as a Peer Tutor and an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where Kaila developed skills in tutoring, data analysis, and technical drafting using software such as AutoCAD and Inventor.
