Champaign Unit 4 Schools
Kate Johnson is an experienced educator currently serving as a 6th Grade Science Teacher at Champaign Unit 4 Schools since July 2021. Prior experience includes positions as a Middle School Science Teacher at Saint Paul Public Schools and Higher Ground Academy, as well as involvement with Teach For America as a Corps Member. Kate has a background in sexual health education through an internship at McKinley Health Center, where responsibilities included facilitating workshops and participating in campus events related to sexual assault awareness. Additional experience encompasses a Freshman Seminar Internship at the University of Illinois, where lesson planning and student engagement were key components, and a Research Assistant role at the Illinois Natural History Survey, which involved presenting research on insect diversity. Kate holds a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earned in 2018.
