Jim Ratliff has a diverse work experience in the architecture and sustainability field. Jim started their career at Champlin Architecture in 2008 as a Project Manager, responsible for leading building information modeling and coordinating documents for various projects. Jim has expertise in architectural and structural documentation, as well as rendering and building analysis through BIM applications.

In 2011, Jim became a member of the Emerging Professionals National Committee at the U.S. Green Building Council, where they were actively involved until 2013. Jim then joined the U.S. Green Building Council's Cincinnati Regional Chapter in 2012, serving as a Board of Director and Chair of the Emerging Professionals. During their time there, they were mainly involved in the communications member circle.

In 2016, Jim joined USGBC Ohio as a Board Member and Communication/Development Chair. In this role, they lead the committee in communication and development efforts and helps set the state strategy with staff and committee members. Jim ensures the strategy is implemented at the regional level and promotes synergy among the regions. Overall, Jim Ratliff has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability and has contributed significantly to the architecture and green building industry.

Jim Ratliff attended the University of Cincinnati from 2001 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology. Jim also holds various certifications, including WELL AP from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in 2021, Architect from the Ohio Architects Board in May 2019, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certification (NCARB) from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) in April 2019, Certified FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot - sUAS - UAV - Drone Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration in October 2017, Architect from the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration in January 2016, Green Globes Professional from the Green Building Initiative in April 2014, Building Performance Analysis Certificate from Autodesk in March 2014, LEED AP Operations and Maintenance from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) in November 2013, and LEED AP Building Design and Construction from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) in May 2008.
