Karen Cheng is an accomplished scientist currently serving as Scientist II at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network since April 2021, where development of a functional viral genomics/CRISPR screening pipeline is underway to identify cellular host factors involved in viral replication. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral researcher role at Dyche Mullins lab from June 2015 to April 2021, with research focused on live cell probes for polymerase-dependent actin network assembly. As a graduate student, Karen Cheng characterized mechanisms related to the actin cytoskeleton during cell migration and participated in teaching at the University of California, San Francisco. Earlier roles include undergraduate research at Anthony Bishop lab and Patricia O'Hara Lab, as well as teaching assistance in chemistry at Amherst College. Academic credentials include a PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Amherst College.
