Tiago Carvalho

Tiago Carvalho is an accomplished engineering professional with significant experience in leadership and software development. At the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative from March 2018 to June 2022, Tiago served as Senior Engineering Manager and Engineering Manager, leading the IDseq project, a genomics tool for infectious disease research. Following this role, Tiago became Head of Engineering at Marker Learning from July 2022 to November 2024. Prior experience includes working as a Software Engineer at Google from January 2017 to March 2018 and serving as a Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University in 2010 and 2011. Tiago holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MSc in Information Technology with a focus on Information Security, both from Carnegie Mellon University.
