Non-executive Director And Member Of The Risk Committee at Charity Bank

Rebecca MacDonald has a wealth of experience in the social impact investment and social enterprise sectors. Rebecca began their career in 2012 as a Programme Assistant at The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, where they built the social investment case for the charity and produced a research report titled ‘The Cost of Peace and the Price of Extremism’. That same year, they also worked as an Intelligence Intern at AKE, producing analytical intelligence reports and briefings for public and private clients.

In 2013, Rebecca moved to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as a Policy Advisor for Universal Credit. Rebecca then joined the Department for Communities and Local Government in 2014 as a Programme and Business Manager for the National Planning Casework Unit. During their time there, they were seconded to the Planning Directorate to support policy development of Community Rights and Assets of Community Value. Rebecca also worked as a Policy Advisor for Household Energy Efficiency at the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

In 2015, Rebecca began working at Big Society Capital as an Investment Manager. Rebecca was then promoted to Investment Director and Senior Investment Director before becoming the Managing Director and Head of Investment Management.

In 2019, Rebecca was awarded a Churchill Fellowship and in 2020, they began a secondment at M&G Investments as a Director for Catalyst and Impact Investment Specialist. Here, they led the development of Catalyst's ESG and Impact Strategy, Policies and Processes.

Finally, in 2022, Rebecca joined Charity Bank as a Non-Executive Director.

Rebecca MacDonald has a long and varied educational background. Rebecca obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theirtory from Royal Holloway, University of London between 2008 and 2011. Rebecca then spent a year abroad at the University of Toronto where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theirtory in 2009-2010. Rebecca then obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Intelligence and International Security from King's College London between 2011 and 2012. Rebecca obtained a Certified Expert in Microfinance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in 2018-2019 and an Executive Postgraduate Certificate in Management from Hult Ashridge in 2015. Rebecca is currently completing a Master of Science - MS in International Development at SOAS University of London, which they began in 2019 and is expected to complete in 2021. Additionally, they have obtained the Certificate in ESG Investing from CFA UK in June 2021, the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from CFA Institute in March 2019, and the Prince2 Project Management Certificate in July 2014.
