Brian Hoyer began their work experience in 2004 as an Associate in Emergency Response at AmeriCares. Brian then moved on to become the Country Director in Haiti from 2010 to 2013, and later took on the role of Director of Recovery Programs from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, they joined charity: water and served as the Director of Program Operations before being promoted to Vice President in April 2019.
Brian Hoyer pursued their undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, where they focused on International Studies with a specific emphasis on Anthropology and African Studies. After completing their BA degree, they went on to obtain an International Diploma of Humanitarian Assistance (IDHA) from the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs in 2006. In the same year, they also started their Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree at Columbia | SIPA, specializing in Economic and Political Development, African Studies, and Humanitarian Affairs. Brian Hoyer's education continued at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, where they pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from 2007 to 2009. Brian'sMPH studies focused on Forced Migration and Health, as well as Complex Humanitarian Emergencies.
