Russ Smith

Russ Smith has worked in education for many years. Russ was a Phys Ed teacher and Athletic Director at Armstrong School. In 1990, they became the President and Founder of SSIL (middle school sports league). As President, they formed the league with other local schools who had been booted from their former sports league due to not having their own gymnasium or field. The league started with approximately eight schools along the peninsula and coast and currently has almost a dozen schools. The league offers sports such as flag football, girls volleyball, cross country, basketball, soccer, tennis, and golf, with tournaments held in other sports such as swimming and bowling.

Russ Smith received a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from UMass Amherst between 1972 and 1978.
