Michael Sankey has over 22 years of experience in Higher Education. Michael has held various roles such as Executive Committee Member and President at the Australasian Council for Online and Distance Education (ACODE). Michael has served as Professor and Director at both Charles Darwin University and Griffith University, overseeing learning transformations and technology-enhanced systems. Additionally, they have been involved in leadership roles at ACODE Australasia, Western Sydney University, RMIT University, Moodle Users Association, and the University of Southern Queensland, focusing on e-learning pedagogies, multimedia design, and learning environments.

Michael Sankey has an extensive education history, starting with primary and secondary education at Melbourne Grammar School from 1965 to 1976. Michael went on to obtain a Diploma of Art and Design in Photography from Victoria College of the Arts in 1979-1981. Michael then pursued a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Visual Arts, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Visual Arts, and a Master of Education in Further Education and Training from the University of Southern Queensland in the years following. Finally, they completed their Doctorate in Education (EdD) from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) from 2004 to 2006. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in areas such as establishing credibility as a speaker and learning technologies leadership.
