Mark Jacobson

General Manager at Charles River Recreation

Mark Jacobson has extensive experience in outdoor recreation and environmental advocacy, currently serving as a Paddler and Race Director for the Mystic River Herring Run & Paddle with New England Canoe and Kayak Racing since 2006. As a member of the Board of Directors for the Mystic River Watershed Association since 2004, Mark contributes to local environmental initiatives. Additionally, Mark has held the position of General Manager at Charles River Recreation since December 1991, overseeing activities such as Paddle Boston, Weston Ski Track, and Community Ice Skating at Kendall Square. Educationally, Mark holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science from UMass Boston and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston University.

Charles River Recreation

Charles River Canoe & Kayak specializes in canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rentals at five locations: in Boston (Allston/Brighton), Cambridge (Kendall Square), Newton (on Comm. Ave/Auburndale), in Nahanton Park, and Natick (in Lake Cochituate State Park). All have stable single kayaks, fun double kayaks, family-friendly canoes, and exciting stand-up paddleboards. We offer group and corporate outings, birthday parties, ten-person canoes, and much more! We also offer amazing guided tours like our Skyline & SunsetTours from Kendall Square, our Boston Harbor Tours from Kendall Square, our Barbeque Kayak Tours from Kendall Square and Allston/Brighton, and our Moonlight Canoe Tours from Newton/Auburndale. We also have a full-service Paddling Store in Newton/Auburndale and a Paddling School that offers classes and sea kayaking trips. Weston Ski Track is a cross-country ski and snowshoeing center located on the Leo J. Martin Golf Course, with natural snow, we groom 15km of trails. Snowmaking on our 2km lighted loop provides consistent snow conditions and reliable night skiing even when your lawn is green. We also host the Bill Koch league and many High School ski teams. Drop in for a beginner lesson and then warm up in our snack bar. Kendall Square Community Ice Skating offers ice skating on a refrigerated and Zamboni-maintained surface, skate rentals, lessons, and a snack bar to warm any cold feet at the end of your skate.
