Lorenzo Wakefield is a program officer responsible for grantmaking in the Access to Justice program area. Based in the Johannesburg office, he serves on the board of the Social Change Assistance Trust, an intermediary grantmaker for small, community-based organizations in South Africa.
Before joining Mott in 2018, Wakefield worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Open Society Foundation for South Africa and the South African Parliament. He has a master’s degree in international criminal and human rights law from the University of the Western Cape. In 2012, he was chosen by the Mail & Guardian newspaper as one of the top 200 Young South Africans in the category for civil society.
