Philip E. Otienoburu currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Public Safety and Chief Government Relations Officer at Charlotte Center City Partners since February 2023. Previously, Philip held the position of Senior Vice President for Community Development at Self-Help Credit Union from August 2019 to February 2023. Philip's academic career includes a tenure as Associate Professor at Johnson C. Smith University, where the role included founding the Center for Renewable Energy & Sustainability. Additional experience encompasses a position as Visiting Scientist at The Ohio State University and an internship at the United Nations. Philip's research history includes work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Kenya Medical Research Institute, focusing on mosquito behavior and climate effects on disease vectors. Philip is currently pursuing an MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School while holding a PhD from The Ohio State University and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Kenyatta University.
