Raymond Barnes

Raymond Barnes, Ed.D., is an experienced educational leader currently serving as the Chief of Schools for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System since July 2024. Prior to this role, Raymond Barnes held various leadership positions at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from October 2010 to June 2024, including Learning Community Superintendent, Executive Director, and Principal. Raymond Barnes also served as Principal, Assistant Principal, and Teacher at Weldon City Schools from July 2000 to October 2010. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master’s Degree in Administration/Principalship from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Livingstone College.
