April Hicks possesses extensive experience in human resources and nonprofit leadership. From February 2016 to present, April has served as the Legacy Stewards Leader at Charlotte Rescue Mission, guiding a committee of former board members to enhance engagement and awareness of the organization’s initiatives. April also holds the position of Board Member and Development Committee Chair, contributing to the mission of assisting individuals facing addiction and poverty. Prior to their current roles, April had a notable tenure at Bank of America from March 2001 to January 2025, where responsibilities included overseeing human resources operations for Consumer and Small Business sectors, managing compensation functions for a multitude of employees, and leading various HR initiatives. Early career experiences include human resource roles at Honeywell and Pratt & Whitney. April earned a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business from Western Kentucky University.

Founded in 1938, the Charlotte Rescue Mission has a long history of reaching out to the homeless and those battling addictions. Our mission is to minister the Good News of Christianity to individuals caught in the crisis of poverty, hopelessness, or addictions by meeting their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.
