Michelle McKenna has extensive experience in trading standards and public sector management. Currently serving as Trading Standards Manager at North Lanarkshire Council since December 2021, Michelle also holds the position of Assistant Business Manager, leading a joint Covid-19 team for Trading Standards and Environmental Health. Michelle's professional journey includes roles at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute as a Chartered Trading Standards Practitioner and CTSI Scottish Branch Chair, as well as a Senior Trading Standards Officer at North Lanarkshire Council. Previously, Michelle was Team Leader for the Scottish Government's 2011 Census, responsible for managing enumerators. Michelle began a career in trading standards as a Trainee Trading Standards Officer at Stirling Council, after earning a BA in Consumer Protection for Trading Standards from Glasgow Caledonian University.

CTSI supports the trading standards industry, leading to fairer, better informed and safer businesses and communities. CTSI encourages honest enterprise and business and helps safeguard the economic, environmental, health and social wellbeing of consumers. CTSI represents trading standards professionals working in the UK and overseas - in local authorities, business and consumer sectors and central government.
