Miriam Romero is an experienced educator currently serving as a Lower School HR Teacher at Chartwell School, focusing on differentiated instruction for students with learning differences. Previously, Miriam held positions as a Collective Mentor at California State University, Monterey Bay, and a 3rd Grade Tier 2 Summer Instructor with Catapult Learning. Additionally, experience includes serving as a Special Education Co-Teacher at Bardin Elementary School and working as a Behavior Technician with Learning ARTS. Miriam holds a Mild/Moderate Credential Specialist and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Studies with an emphasis on Special Education from California State University, Monterey Bay, along with various degrees from Hartnell College.

Chartwell School meets the needs of students with dyslexia and a wide range of language-related learning differences. Immersed in our college preparatory environment, these bright students who often find that learning to read well is extremely difficult. As a result, many have struggled in traditional academic settings. Chartwell is the only school of this type serving California’s Central Coast region. Accredited at the highest level by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Chartwell offers a full mainstream curriculum that meets or exceeds California state standards. All classes use well-structured, diagnostic, multi-sensory approaches and implement research-based best practices. Chartwell places special emphasis on accessing higher order cognition, creativity and problem solving skills through language development, hands-on science, the arts, the social and emotional foundations of learning, and environmental education. Our high-school features project-based, experiential learning with small classes and collaborative teaching teams.
