Holly Coleman has an extensive work experience in the public health sector. Holly started their career in 1976 with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, where they served as the Environmental Health Director for 23 years until 1999. In 2006, they joined the Chatham County Public Health Department as the Health Director, a position they currently hold.

Holly Coleman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture-Animal Science from the University of Kentucky between 1971 and 1974. Holly later pursued a Master's degree in Animal & Food Science from the same institution and completed it between 2004 and 2007.
