Ben Benton

Ben Benton has over two decades of experience in journalism, currently serving as a staff writer and photographer for the Chattanooga Times Free Press since November 2005, focusing on the tri-state region and covering a range of topics including local history, environmental issues, and news of the weird, along with crime, government, and politics. Prior to this role, Ben worked as a staff writer for The Daily Post-Athenian from March 1999 to November 2005, where coverage included crime, courts, and government in McMinn and Meigs counties. Earlier experience includes reporting for the Herald-News from August 1996 to March 1999, focusing on crime, courts, schools, health, and government in Rhea County. Ben Benton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
