Brandon Smetak

Brandon Smetak, CPA has a diverse and extensive work experience. Brandon began their career at Fresh Start Bakeries, Inc. in 2006 as an Accounts Payable & Assistant to Chief Engineer. In 2007, they interned at EY. Brandon then joined EY as an Assurance Senior Manager in 2008, where they specialized in Media & Entertainment, Retail, Consumer Products, and Technology sectors. At EY, they managed multiple high-performing teams and worked with both global publicly traded clients and mid-size pre-IPO clients. In 2017, Brandon joined Smart & Final as the Director of Financial Planning & Reporting and later held roles as Vice President, Financial Reporting & Accounting, Vice President, Corporate Finance, and ultimately Vice President & Controller. During their time at Smart & Final, they oversaw primary accounting operations, period-end close, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, internal controls, and technical accounting matters. Brandon is currently working at Chedraui USA as the Vice President & Controller for Smart & Final, where they continue to manage accounting operations for the company with over $4.4 billion in annual revenue.

Brandon Smetak, CPA obtained a Bachelor of Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus in Finance from the University of Southern California and USC Marshall School of Business respectively, from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they attended La Habra High School from 2000 to 2004. In addition, they hold additional certifications including being a Master Captain for 50 Ton Vessels as certified by the U.S. Coast Guard in 2019 and being a Certified Public Accountant in California as certified by the California Board of Accountancy in 2011.
